Uyen and Geneo are newlyweds and self-professed &#8220;foodies&#8221; out of Portland. They decided to pack up and drive cross-country, cooking at farmers markets along the way \u2013 and Spokane is their first stop. They&#8217;re scheduled to be at our market\u00a0this week (August 28) and next (September 4) dishing up new twists on a familiar favorite:\u00a0Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and Korean-style hotdogs. So please stop in, give them a hearty welcome, and get some dinner in addition to your weekly shopping.<\/p>\n<p>You can follow Uyen and Geneo&#8217;s\u00a0journey on <a href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/southeastpdx\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a>, their blog (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.baconandbroth.com\" target=\"_blank\">Bacon and Broth<\/a>), or Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Our fun KERNEL program with free kids&#8217; activities continues this week with jump roping. Not only will kids learn some jump rope basics (or get to show off their existing skills), they&#8217;ll also have the chance to <del>make a jump rope themselves<\/del>\u00a0play\u00a0some neat\u00a0jump rope games. And, as usual, they&#8217;ll get $2 in Fresh Bucks for spending once they&#8217;ve successfully completed the activity. For many kids, having the chance to buy\u00a0their own cantaloupe or watermelon is the highlight of the market.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re also pleased to have another round of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fns.usda.gov\/fmnp\/wic-farmers-market-nutrition-program-fmnp\" target=\"_blank\">Farmers Market Nutritional Program<\/a> (FMNP) vouchers for WIC clients. This distribution wasn&#8217;t initially scheduled, but the reception to FMNP has been so fantastic that the <a href=\"http:\/\/westcentralcc.org\/programs\/wic\/\" target=\"_blank\">West Central Community Center WIC<\/a> office was able to arrange a second one. If you are current WIC client, please come out and take advantage of these vouchers.
